10+ years of experience in heavy industrial or commercial construction
4-year degree in a related field
Responsibilities
- Participate as a member of project teams to develop project scope, project cost estimates, and project schedules
- Participate in on-site field/scope visits
- Assist in developing schedules, including critical paths
- Develop detailed construction plans and identify outage requirements to implement new facilities
- Identify required permits and develop detailed estimates
- Work with the Utility Company's major accounts group regarding outages affecting external/internal customers
- Develop construction contract bid packages, review responses, and participate in vendor selection
- Conduct pre-bid meetings with contractors
- Participate in design constructability reviews for all disciplines (site, foundation, electrical & relay, T-Line) to identify and eliminate costly expenses during the construction phase
- Perform quality assurance checks during construction
- Monitor schedule and progress versus requested in-service date
- Responsible for closeout of construction contracts and as-built documentation
- Monitor that all Utility Company procedures and processes are followed to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
Skill Sets & Expertise
- Self-starter and proactive with effective communication skills
- Adequate knowledge of OSHA and applicable environmental regulations
- Extensive knowledge of construction standard practices, techniques, quality requirements, applicable codes, and standards
- Working knowledge of construction contracts and labor agreements
- Ability to interface with contractors, designers, vendors, and other parties connected with the project
- Working knowledge of rigging and lifting methods
