Modern Data Engineer (Enterprise + Lakehouse + AI‐Assisted) Experience 5+ years working with data in a software or data engineering role Experience in enterprise environments with a mix of on‐prem and cloud technologies Core Technologies Strong SQL skills and data modeling experience (including star schema / dimensional models) Hands-on experience with SQL Server Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines using SSIS (or similar tools) Experience supporting analytics and reporting through Power BI Experience with Spark-based platforms, with Databricks Lakehouse as the primary future-state technology Data Engineering Skills Building, operating, and optimizing batch and/or streaming data pipelines Working with relational databases, data lakes, and NoSQL systems Transforming raw data into curated datasets that are easy to analyze and reusable Familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow or equivalent) Experience with CI/CD and Git- based workflows for data pipelines AI & Modern Engineering Experience using AI tools or copilots to assist with data engineering tasks (SQL development, pipeline generation, testing, documentation) Familiarity with automation or AI agents to streamline engineering workflows is a plus Soft Skills Strong communication skills Comfortable working directly with engineers and managers in the electric utility / operations domain Able to operate in a regulated, production-critical enterprise environment.
