Job Description:
- Electronics Engineer
- Onsite in Foster City, CA | 5 days in office
- Travel within the Bay Area is required
- As an Electronics Engineer at Client, you will be directly working with electrical engineers to build, bring up, and rework vehicle components and PCB assemblies as well as helping scale the existing work into production.
- The role will also include the assembly of cable harnesses in addition to PCB-level assembly and rework on small components while acting as the "quarterback" of the lab ensuring all components, tools, and assets are tracked, organized, and ready for rapid-turnaround testing.
- You are detail-oriented, a self-starter, and adapt easily to change.
In this role, you will:
- Work directly with the team on new and current electronics destined for vehicle testing.
- Assemble and rework multi layer electronic circuit boards.
- Build, modify, and repair automotive-grade wire harnesses using industry-standard connectors (eg. TE, Molex, Deutsch).
- Assemble and wire electrical control panels, test hardware on industrial rack systems and test benches.
- Help maintain, expand and improve the electronics lab and workspaces and its capabilities, including helping buy and overseeing maintenance of tools and stocking of parts.
- Create, manage and track electrical components, connectors, and consumables; proactively restock parts to ensure zero downtime for engineering sprints.
- Create and maintain a "Lend/Receive" system for high-value equipment(s) to ensure accountability across team members / teams.
- Manage the intake of prototype parts and the outbound shipment of test fixtures to external sites or vehicle teams.
- Conduct detailed inspections of PCBAs and cable assemblies to locate and resolve assembly issues.
- Handle purchases of various components needed for engineers within team and cross team.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with electronic product assembly, with 2+ years of work experience.
- Hands-on experience in prototype work and functional verification (testing) specifically with electronics. Some level of mechanical knowledge is desirable.
- Hands-on and fluent with basic lab equipment: DMM, power supplies, electronic loads.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and BOMs.
- Must have superb soldering & rework skills.
- Experienced and comfortable working under a microscope.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical hand-tools common in electronic assemblies.
- Good documentation and communication skills (strong technical writing).
- Strong computer skills and proficiency on MacOS or Windows with browser-based applications.
- Ability to proactively communicate with all employees and work well in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and input from multiple sources (Managers, Engineers).
- Pride in detail-oriented, methodical, careful, and clean work that leads to a very low rate of defects in the field.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Ability to diagnose electrical systems a plus.
- Experience working on safety-critical electronics destined for harsh environments such as for vehicles, aircrafts, missiles, or space systems a plus.
- PCB Design on Altium / KiCAD.
- CAD skills in Altium Designer or SolidWorks a plus.
- Jira and Confluence skills a plus.
- Comfortable in using Linux environments.
