Title: Electronics Engineering Technician 
Location: Rochester, MN
Duration: 9 months

Duties:

  • Test Lab Technician / Coordinator
  • Candidate will be responsible for support of day-to-day work activities, such as loading/unloading drives, starting tests, maintaining lab, and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
  • Work with other teams in support of FPE Rochester operations.
  • In addition, support activities to maintain the operational readiness of the Reliability Test Lab.
  • This requires being able to work highly independently for activities including debugging, repair, and maintenance of all lab equipment: form entry, record keeping, tracking and control for equipment calibration, equipment inventory and department purchasing activities.
  • Ability to work the graveyard shift when debugging issues with the engineering team in India and Israel
  • Assist with new equipment layout, design, installation and bring-up.
  • Limited Domestic and/or international travel

Education:

  • Associate's degree in a technical field preferred.
  • 3+ years of work experience.
  • Experience specifically in an Engineering/Reliability test environment.

Skill Requirements:

  • Dexterity and strength to install 16x20 mm components into spring loaded connectors
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds from floor to height of 6 feet
  • Good record-keeping skills
  • Communication Skills
  • Basic PC usage skills (Win/Mac, Office Products, mail clients, …)
  • Basic lab equipment (Power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, …)
  • Basic engineering skills (ability to understand schematics, layout, …)
  • In-depth working knowledge of hardware setup, debug, and fault tracing
  • Ability work well with others in the department
  • Able to clearly express ideas or needs
  • Ability to clearly state findings or problems
  • Handle Tasks Independently
  • Self-initiator
  • Strong debugging & problem-solving skills
  • Able to organize multiple tasks

Desired Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Linux
  • Working knowledge of PCIe/NVMe
  • Experience in lab operations
  • Equipment calibration
  • Lab inventory
  • Parts / supplies ordering
  • Experience with SSD Devices

Basic Duties / Day-to-Day Activities:

  • Installation of 16x20 mm BGA into sockets and adapter boards into test chambers
  • Test setup, coordination, reporting and execution
  • Daily high-level check all equipment is operational
  • Equipment fault tracing, debug, and repair(includes coordination with external repair services)
  • Equipment upgrades / installations (installation, debug, checkout of upgrade parts; work with facilities to install new equipment)
  • Equipment calibration (includes tracking/updating calibration dates, performing internal calibrations, coordination with external services)
  • Records / Tracking (calibration, repairs, inventory, ordering and other department records)
  • Parts (Storage, tracking and supply refresh for spare / working parts)
  • Ideas & Improvements (Help identify opportunities for improvement).
  • Assist with improvement development.
  • Communications with department team
  • General updates on equipment status, any problems, due dates
  • Participate in internal department meetings.
