Instructional Designer II

Hybrid role - 3 days Onsite and 2 days Remote

Job Description:

• This role will be 5 months from the start date. 
• This role will be hybrid, Mon, Wed, Thurs. 
• This can be San Jose, CA or Irvine, CA office. 
• Working hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week. 
• Overtime: No.
• Business Travel: No.     

Experience Level: 

• Level 2 preferred (approximately 3-5 years of experience)
• less experienced candidates with strong potential will also be considered.

Position Summary:

• We are seeking a creative and motivated Instructional Designer to support the development of engaging learning and training content for a 5-month project. 
• This role will focus on designing and developing e-learning courses, virtual training materials, and other learning resources that support business objectives and learner engagement.
• The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in instructional design principles, experience creating e-learning content using Articulate, and a passion for developing effective learning experiences. 
• Experience using AI tools to support content development is preferred but not required. We are open to candidates who are eager to learn and can be coached and developed within the role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop engaging e-learning courses, instructor-led training materials, job aids, and other learning resources.
• Apply adult learning and instructional design principles to create effective learning solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather requirements and develop training content.
• Create interactive and visually engaging learning experiences for virtual audiences.
• Utilize Articulate Storyline and/or Rise to design and build e-learning content.
• Leverage AI-enabled tools to support content development where appropriate (preferred, not required).
• Upload, test, and maintain learning content within the organization's Learning Management System (LMS).
• Ensure training materials align with branding, accessibility, and quality standards.
• Participate in content reviews and incorporate feedback from stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of experience in instructional design, training development, or a related field (less experience may be considered for strong candidates).
• Knowledge of instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles.
• Experience developing e-learning content using Articulate Storyline and/or Rise.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly creative visionary and developer of virtual instructor led training activities, with an eye for learner engagement and visual design.
• Experience facilitating or developing content for virtual learning environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and other collaboration tools.
• Experience working in a Windows environment (not Mac-dependent).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using AI tools to assist with content development, research, or training design.
• Experience managing learning content within a SCORM-Compliant Learning Management System (LMS).
• Experience with Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD).
• Ability to upload, configure, and maintain training content within an LMS.
• Experience supporting corporate learning and development initiatives in a business environment.

• Familiarity with learning analytics and reporting.

Target Candidate Profile:

• A creative instructional designer with experience developing engaging e-learning content in Articulate, who understands instructional design fundamentals and can support virtual training initiatives.
• Experience with Workday Learning or CSOD is highly desirable, while AI content development experience is a bonus.
• This role is ideal for someone with 3-5 years of experience who can grow within the position and contribute fresh ideas to the learning team.

Education:

• A formal college degree is required.
