Job Description:
- Release Integration Engineer - Manufacturing / End of Line.
- Onsite in Hayward, CA | 5 days in office.
- Expected start time is 8:00 AM PT.
- Client builds and operates a fleet of purpose-built robotaxis, and every vehicle must be validated before it can drive on public roads.
- The HW/SW Integration team manages how software and firmware changes flow safely onto the manufacturing line and through final validation.
- This contract role extends our release-integration capacity with a focus on End of Line (EOL), the final manufacturing stage where the robot is calibrated, road-tested, and certified for the road.
- Working alongside our Release Manager and our firmware, infrastructure, and integration engineers, you will own the disciplined flow of validated code and firmware changes into our EOL and manufacturing branches.
- This is a hands-on integration/release role, not feature development and not project-management-only.
- Expect roughly 40% process/coordination/communication and 60% hands-on technical work (Git, Linux, test execution and triage).
Day to day you will:
- Manage code-change flow into EOL/manufacturing branches, cherry-pick and hotfix validated fixes across a multi-branch Git topology, then merge validated changes back to the release candidate with strict discipline.
- Execute and triage tests hands-on, run Build Integrity and EOL test suites, read the results, reproduce failures, and route issues to the right engineering owners.
- Cut and announce releases to the line, tag and publish validated software/firmware image builds with clear, complete change logs.
- Protect homologation-sensitive branches, ensure only validated changes reach branches certified for public-road use, where any change requires revalidation.
- Drive the operational rhythm, publish clear daily status summaries, gate test-run go/no-go decisions, and coordinate and escalate across teams under live production pressure.
Required Qualifications:
- Fluency with Linux and the command line, and strong Git skills (cherry-picks, conflict resolution, protected/multi-branch workflows) with 2+ years of experience.
- Technical literacy with complex hardware/software systems, able to understand how components fit together and communicate credibly with engineers.
- Aptitude and drive to become an expert in test execution and triage.
- Strong process discipline and clear written communication.
- Proven ability to coordinate and escalate across teams under time pressure, with sound go/no-go judgment.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Prior release, build, integration, or manufacturing-test experience (automotive, robotics, hardware, etc.).
- Familiarity with CI or HIL systems, Docker/containers, and firmware deployment/flashing.
- Exposure to Jira, structured release/change-management processes, and embedded/automotive concepts (CAN/Ethernet, ECUs).
