On-Site role

Job Description:

  • THIS IS A 12 MONTH CONTINGENT POSITION
  • Position is located in St. Joseph; MO.
  • Local Candidates will be considered.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • This position is responsible for performing the necessary work related to the care of the pets and sanitation of the PetCare buildings under general supervision.
  • SCHEDULE: 40 hours/week. Shifts are 4 days a week, 10 hours per day. Hours vary between 6:00 AM and 5:30 PM. Days can vary but are most typically Sunday - Wednesday or Wednesday - Saturday.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform sanitation and cleaning duties of facilities.
  • Assist with feeding our pets (placing, retrieving and cleaning food bowls)
  • Perform limited grooming as necessary.
  • Assist with exercise and socialization for our pets.
  • Report to the veterinary staff sick pets or unusual behavior observed in the cats or dogs.
  • Report to the Manager any broken or damaged equipment, item or physical area.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and sanitary work environment and practice safety in the workplace.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED:

  • General supervision received from the Supervisor

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Knowledge):

  • Able to work weekends and holidays.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, organization, and math skills.
  • Computer Literacy.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS PREFERED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Some animal handling or grooming experience preferred.

  • If in the cat department, we require an animal safety training course be completed (this is done at our facility)
