Back to search resultsClient is seeking a full-time supplemental worker to support the Department of Transportation (DOT) permitting and agreements team in the Transmission Line Services (TLS) department.
The permitting responsibilities involve assisting APCO DOT coordinators with assembling, reviewing, submitting, tracking, and communicating permit statuses to internal work groups in the transmission and fiber organizations of APCO. Communication with ALDOT Districts, Areas, Regions and within the APCO Power Delivery organization to resolve permitting questions or issues is required. Ensuring adherence to the ALDOT utility manual and permitting guidelines is required.
Position placement will be based on the candidates’ experience and qualifications. Strong communication, organization, and time management skills are required. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to changing priorities.
Summary of Position Duties
PERMITTING – Assist APCO Transmission and Distribution DOT Coordinators with activities related to ALDOT, county, and city permitting.
- Ensure adherence to the ALDOT Utility Manual for permitting.
- Ensure adherence to the ALDOT Permit Manual for permitting.
- Assist with Oversized Load Route reviews for ALDOT permitting companies through APCO territory.
- Assist with Temporary Traffic Control plan reviews following Part 6 of the current Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
Job Experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel) is required.
- Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation and GIS programs is required.
- Understanding of plan and profile layouts, and cross-section sheet layouts is required.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools to plan, execute, and monitor projects effectively is required.
- Familiarity with SOCO JETS and Teams software is preferred.
- Experience in DOT, city, and county permitting is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand legal documents relevant to utility permitting and relocation, such as easements, right-of-way agreements, and utility relocation agreements is preferred.
- Familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), specifically Part 6 Temporary Traffic Control, is preferred.
Education Experience
- A 4-year degree in a related field (such as engineering, business, or project management) is preferred.
- Alternatively, 3 years’ experience in transmission, distribution, or fiber design and/or field operations is preferred.
