Job Description:

  • 0 - 3 years of related experience.
  • Technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing protection and control systems. 
  • These systems are used to monitor protection systems in power substations. 
  • Technicians must have a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles as well as computer skills. 
  • They use this knowledge to install, repair, and maintain protection and control systems that may include microprocessor relays, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, pumps, motors, etc.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control relaying and associated devices.
  • Perform calibration of various types of protection and control relays and devices.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining protection and control documentation.
  • Assist assigned project lead with field assignments Install, program, and maintain protection and control relays and devices.
  • Participate in process hazard analyses.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry trends and practices.
  • Required Skills and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s degree in electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred 0-3 years experience in a controls technician or similar role.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and HMIs.
  • Experience with AC and DC systems.
  • Successful candidate must live within a reasonable commute to the assigned APC office location.
