Title: SAP Master Data Specialist (SDS and Product Classification)
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 Months

 

Job Description:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled SAP Master Data Specialist to join our team. As an SAP Master Data Specialist, you will be responsible for the preparation of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the classification and labeling of products within the client's SAP-EHS system. You will ensure compliance with various regulations and rule sets related to hazard communication, chemical registration, evaluation, authorization, restriction, and classification.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in the client's SAP-EHS system, adhering to relevant regulations and rule sets.
  • Classify and label products according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 1910.1200, California Proposition 65, Hazard Communication Standard (HCS), REACH, CLP, and the UN Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).
  • Stay updated with the latest regulations and communicate any changes or updates to the relevant departments.
  • Ensure overall data consistency within SDS, including checking that component classifications in Section 3 align with the product classification in Section 2, and that hazard classification in Section 2 matches transport classification in Section 14.
  • Provide advice, clarification, and information to address questions related to specific regulations and corresponding requirements.
  • Perform master data management for products at the real substance (REAL_SUB) level in SAP-EHS.
  • Create or update products based on client-provided data and run selected rule sets for master data management.
  • Collaborate with other departments regarding the maintenance of pure substances (PURE_SUB) or listed substances (LIST_SUB).
  • Prepare SDS for finished products, specifically for the USA market.
  • Ensure compliance of the generated SDS and release/publish them in SAP-EHS.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience working with SAP-EHS system and handling master data management.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and rule sets, including OSHA 1910.1200, California Proposition 65, HCS, REACH, CLP, and GHS.
  • Familiarity with Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act (TSCA), Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA), and Canadian Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure data consistency and accuracy.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to interpret and apply regulations effectively.
  • Effective communication skills to provide guidance and information on regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in using SAP-EHS system and other relevant software tools.
  • Understanding of SDS structure and content requirements.
  • Knowledge of chemical hazards, classification, and labelling practices.
