Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing telecommunications systems, including digital microwave, fiber optic networks, LANs, voice systems, and wireless data communications.
- Understanding of telecom, wireless, data, and voice network topologies and how they interface with one another.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware and software associated with personal computers, peripheral devices, telecommunications systems, alarm systems, and DC power systems.
- Knowledge of PC hardware, operating systems, software components, and troubleshooting techniques for voice and data wireless systems.
- Experience in racking and stacking network and telecom equipment.
- Strong personal computer skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, along with solid time management and organizational skills.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data and telecommunications transport networks.
- Provide project support for telecom field operations work.
- Coordinate with internal business partners, vendors, contractors, and other technical groups on installations and issue resolution.
- Escort tower crews and external contractors to telecom sites as needed.
- Maintain accurate circuit records, equipment inventories, and site documentation.
- Install standard, endorsed, or certified off-the-shelf hardware and software devices.
- Follow safe work practices and manage multiple assignments effectively.
- Travel as needed within the Georgia Power footprint and occasionally beyond.
