Job Description:
- This Position involves timely follow up on loads to ensure on time delivery.
- Responsibilities will include working with NPPC corporate supply chain representatives, 3rd party carriers, NPPC Distribution centers, sister NPPC production plants, and customer distribution centers to ensure NPPC products are delivered to meet customer demand.
- Responsible for scheduling and tracking outbound/inbound loads to ensure On-Time delivery.
- Responsible for capturing and documenting appropriate reason codes on customer’s delivery information.
- Assist Transportation Manager with on time reporting, and other reporting functions as assigned.
- Could also include scheduling and tendering of outbound freight in accordance with customer delivery demands, corporate sales targets, and product supply availability.
LOCATION:
- This position can sit completely remote, but candidates MUST be located near St. Louis, MO, Denver, CO, Crete, NE, Davenport, IA, Clinton, IA, King William, VA or Bloomfield, MO for training purposes. However, this position will primarily support the EAST region.
- This position is covering a medical leave.
- The contract length for this role is 6 months right now, we will re-evaluate toward the end of contract to determine if it needs to be extended.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Timely follow up on loads to determine on time delivery or correct reason code to be applied if failure for on time delivery
- Daily load tracking in FourKites – follow ups with carriers not tracking on time and updates to system to reflect new delivery
- Freight Covered Every Day (Exceed Purina on-time pick-up and delivery expectations; proactive analysis to prevent service failures, schedule orders for the best possible product fill rate)
- Carrier Relationship (Consistent and professional communications, Accessorial approval based on business rules, cover loads, handling and management of difficult situations, etc.)
- Customer Relationship (Consistent and professional communications; effective, prompt and courteous communications with respect to difficult situations, relaying service failures, etc.)
- Financial Procedures and Operating Metrics (Detention management, benchmark rate achievement, automation objectives, expedite decisions and cost, etc.)
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List job duties which may be important to the performance of the job but are not principal job functions).
- Contact carrier to obtain status of load-tendered; continue monitoring the shipment via provided systems for on-time pick-up, transit, and delivery.
- Monitor shipments for on time delivery and revise/communicate when necessary based on changing needs of the shipper, customer, and/or carrier.
- Tendering loads to carriers while ensuring automated or manual routing guide assignment/tender acceptance in Standard Routing Guide (SRG).
- Notify appropriate groups of any product supply issues, and work with ORM and Operations Planning group to resolve issues to maintain customer satisfaction and on time delivery.
- Appointment Scheduling/Schedule appointments with shipper and/or receiver, update the TMS/SAP/WMS as needed.
- Consolidate customer orders into full truckloads when necessary.
- Review and correct EDI 214 errors.
- Manage and process customer returns.
- Correspond with carrier regarding detention and other accessorial information and provide approval or denial based on business rules.
- Actively manage on-time performance and fill rate through proper reason code application and reason code monthly clean up.
- Additional Responsibilities Regarding Customer and Carrier Relationships.
- Request EDI set-up on newly contracted carriers and set-up Carrier Portal log-ins.
- Lead training sessions for Carrier Contacts as necessary on Carrier Portal.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):
- Education: High School Diploma
Experience (Years/Type):
- 2+ years in Customer Service in a manufacturing or transportation environment.
Skills:
- Multi-tasking
- Ability to work fluently in Web-based Systems: SAP, Microsoft Excel, etc
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational:
- Efficiently and effectively execute the transport of products utilizing the Transportation Control Tower (TCT) tools and processes to exceed service expectations.
- Collaboration with cross-functional areas including customer service, carriers, facilities, and deployment while maintaining a proper professional approach in all interactions (face to face; phone, e-mail, meetings, etc.)
- Take initiative and make decisions independently weighing customer needs, facility requirements, carrier capacity, and escalating as appropriate.
- Support Client Operational Master Plan, Client Continuous Excellence Initiatives and Continuous Process Improvement.
- Resolve conflicts / discrepancies positively, professionally, and timely.
Administration:
- Build strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Daily communication on successes and opportunities.
- Pursue continuous education on Transportation and Supply Chain.
- Embrace a Winning mindset, while being aligned, agile and adaptable.
- Other duties as assigned including but not limited to meetings, projects, travel we’ve never asked anybody to travel, it would be very rare but possible could we say “potential travel”, training and other necessary tasks to support adding the most value to Client.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
- High School Diploma, with a college education preferred.
- Requires a professional approach to internal and external customers.
- Demonstrates a professional image and demeanor.
EXPERIENCE:
- Transportation and/or logistics experience preferred
- Experience in a tactical and fast-paced office environment
- Strong customer service skills
SKILLS:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical, decision-making and good judgment is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills a must.
- Must be able to handle shifting priority requirements
- Must be able to thrive in a team environment
- Must be resilient to and embrace change
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook Programs
