Job Description:
- Note: 12-hour swing shifts.
Qualifications:
- 0-3 years of experience in related field.
- Technical Diploma or equivalent.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide basic field support in installations.
- The field technician is responsible for the safe inspection, operation, and monitoring of coal handling systems, including conveyor systems, fuel transfer and supply lines, and associated plant equipment.
- This role supports plant operations by collecting and preparing fuel samples, maintaining accurate documentation, and operating Limestone Drying Process Equipment.
- The position provides basic field support for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment and systems, assists with routine maintenance activities, and documents operational findings.
- Working under supervision, the Coal Equipment Operator follows all safety, environmental, and operational procedures, reports equipment abnormalities, and participates in training to enhance technical skills found during tasks.
- Attend training sessions to enhance technical skills.
SKILL SETS & EXPERTISE:
- Basic understanding of industrial equipment and system operations, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safe and reliable plant performance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent standing required while monitoring/assessing equipment, performing operations and maintenance tasks, and other routine tasks.
- Frequent walking required throughout Plant site, up to 800 yards at a time.
- Frequent walking of up to 600 feet on a 15 degree ramping walk-way such as on the coal conveyor system is required.
- Frequent sitting required to perform office/computer work, operate rolling stock.
- Occasionally lift and carry objects of up to 50 pounds is required.
- Objects may include hand tools, maintenance equipment and equipment parts, lubricant containers, rollers on conveyor belts, and more.
- Occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force, while pushing and/or pulling objects such as drums in a standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching position.
- Full mobility of both hands, arms, and legs are required to perform the duties of this position (i.e., operate rolling stock, vehicles, computer, valves, control switches, hand and power tools, and more).
- Occasionally climbing stairs covering 10 floors and climbing ladders up to 20 feet some protected and some unprotected.
- Frequent climbing of steps into and out of heavy equipment.
- Occasional climbing flights of stairs with up to the ash silo and to the euro silos.
- Constant balance, depth perception, and field of vision are required while working on platforms and step ladders, operating forklift and rolling stock, and more.
- Depth perception needed for clearing coal piles under conveyor belts when using excavator.
