IT Infrastructure Project Manager II

On-Site role

Job Description:

• Oversees designated technical infrastructure projects, such as patching and upgrading infrastructure.
• Plan and develop strategy, including defining the goals and timeline for project(s) they supervise.
• Coordinate, document, and assign tasks for the project team and provide the team with direction and support.
• Manage the budget, timeline, and resources for the project.
• Monitor problems, provide solutions, and implement changes as necessary to ensure the project timeline is followed.
• Regularly reports the progress to the stakeholders.
• May report to a senior project manager.
• Strong leadership ability is required.
• Typically requires field work in overseeing projects.
• Manage and communicate ongoing changes in tasks, goals, or performance.
• Participate in client meetings, contract finalization, and development of requirements and specifications.
• Manage project budget to reach revenue, cost, and profit targets.
• Assign resources to projects and project objectives and monitor progress.
• Develop project plans and facilitate resolution of all issues to reach project goals.

Skills:

Infrastructure Fundamentals:

• Basic understanding of servers, virtualization, and data centers (what they are and why they matter)
• Familiarity with Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP at a conceptual level)
• Awareness of hypervisors (Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV) — what virtualization does and its business value

Project & Lifecycle Management:

• Ability to manage hardware lifecycle projects (procurement, deployment, refresh, decommission)
• Experience coordinating migrations and platform consolidations
• Familiarity with capacity planning conversations and translating technical needs into project timelines

Storage & Networking Awareness:

• High-level understanding of SAN, NAS, and object storage concepts
• Basic familiarity with networking terms (VLANs, subnets, storage networking) to communicate with engineers
• Awareness of backup and disaster recovery planning from a project scope perspective

Vendor & Tools Coordination:

• Experience working with enterprise vendors (HPE, Dell, Nutanix, NetApp, Pure Storage)
• Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) tools (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.)
• Comfort reviewing vendor proposals, SoWs, and licensing agreements

Documentation & Governance:

• Ability to review and manage architecture documentation (HLDs, LLDs, solution blueprints) — not author, but track and coordinate
• Understanding of change management processes in an enterprise IT environment
• Familiarity with compliance and security frameworks (Zero Trust, hardening standards) at a policy level

Collaboration Skills:

• Ability to work across Data Center Ops, Network Engineering, Security, and Business stakeholders
• Experience facilitating PoC evaluations, vendor assessments, and technology pilots from a project coordination standpoint
• Comfortable supporting executive-level reporting and status presentations

Education:

• 5+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience in project management preferrably experience at large global IT companies. 
• 3+ years experience with Microsoft Hyper-V preferred/really nice to have.
