Job Description:

  • An Environmental Laboratory Analyst is responsible for testing environmental samples to determine the presence of pollutants and other contaminants. 
  • This role involves analyzing samples using specialized laboratory equipment and techniques while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare environmental samples for instrumental analysis, including logging, apportioning, weighing, spiking, and sample preparation.
  • Receive and process customer samples, ensuring compliance with sample receipt requirements.
  • Log samples into the laboratory information system and prepare sample collection kits for customers.
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures using analytical balances, pipettes, dispensers, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation to support environmental compliance and regulatory reporting.
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Support emergency response activities by understanding environmental incident, spill, and accident response procedures.
  • Analyze environmental data and assist in identifying trends and reporting findings.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and cross-functional teams to achieve testing and compliance objectives.

Qualifications:
Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Associate's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or a related field will also be considered.

Experience:

  • Entry-level position, prior laboratory experience is preferred but not required.

Required Skills:

  • Basic laboratory skills, including the use of analytical balances, pipetting, dispensing, and volume measurement.
  • Understanding of laboratory safety practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to maintain organized documentation and records.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to analyze environmental data and make informed recommendations.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance and regulatory requirements is a plus.
