Title: Lead SDET – Mobile Automation & Quality Assurance Lead
Location: Canada
Duration: 6 months to 1 year + extensions

Job Description:

• We are seeking an accomplished Lead SDET to contribute, drive, and continuously improve our global test automation strategy for mobile applications.
• As a key player in our QA team, you will be responsible for ensuring our mobile applications are thoroughly tested, automated, and maintainable across all development stages.
• You will collaborate closely with technical architects and engineering leads across regions, advancing our test automation framework and reducing reliance on manual testing.
• This role will also include setting and enforcing best practices, establishing testing benchmarks, and ensuring rapid, reliable end-to-end testing.

Technical Skills:
Automation Testing Expertise:

• 7+ years in QA automation, with a minimum of 3 years in a lead role focused on mobile test automation.
• Proficiency in mobile automation testing tools like Appium, Selenium, and other frameworks.
• Strong understanding of mobile testing (iOS, Android) including network, UI, and accessibility testing.
• Expertise in designing and optimizing end-to-end tests that are resilient,  reliable, and fast in Azure DevOps.

Test Framework Development:

• Proven experience in building and scaling test automation frameworks, ideally using C# and integrating with tools like Selenium, Appium, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with API testing, mocking, and test data management to support comprehensive testing.

Cloud-Based Testing Tools: 

• Familiarity with cloud-based testing environments (e.g., BrowserStack, Sauce Labs,  AWS Device Farm) for scalability and mobile device coverage.

Performance Testing:

• Experience in performance, load, and stress testing to ensure the mobile applications meet performance standards.

CI/CD Integration:

• Strong experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, optimizing for continuous deployment and rapid feedback loops.

Soft Skills & Leadership:

• Strategic Mindset: Ability to create a forward-thinking automation strategy that balances innovation with practicality and supports global needs.
• Collaboration & Communication: Strong communication skills for working effectively with cross-functional teams and presenting strategies,  outcomes, and automation value to stakeholders.
• Problem Solving: Skilled at identifying bottlenecks, debugging complex testing issues, and making informed decisions on testing methodologies.
• Mentorship: Enthusiasm for mentoring team members, supporting growth within the team, and fostering a collaborative, learning-oriented environment.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Data-Driven Testing: Knowledge of data-driven and behavior-driven testing approaches to create comprehensive, reusable test cases.
• Security Testing: Knowledge of security base mobile and infrastructure testing,  to identify vulnerabilities and risks.

Success Metrics:
Success in this role will be measured by:

• Increased Automation Coverage: Reduction in manual testing and significant improvement in test automation coverage, focusing on high-impact areas of the application.
• Test Execution Speed: Reduced time for end-to-end test execution,  contributing to faster release cycles and increased deployment frequency.
• Reliability & Maintainability: Establishment of a stable, maintainable test automation framework with minimal flakiness, ensuring reliable feedback with each release.
• Quality of Test Packs: High-quality, reusable test packs that are consistently maintained and readily adaptable to product updates and changes.
• Cross-Team Alignment: Effective collaboration with global technical leaders,  ensuring the test automation strategy is aligned with product and engineering goals.
