Title: Design Engineer
Location: Saint Louis, MO
Duration: 18 Months

 

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist designers in the creation of LOD 400 3D models for modular equipment skids on various capital projects. Maintain and use fabrication level 3D models to coordinate between disciplines. Assist the lead project engineers in the development of IFC packages that will include but are not limited to: process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment drawings, equipment lists, detailed skid tie-point lists, line lists, and standard detail drawings.
  • The position requires conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with both internal and external engineering and non-engineering professionals to develop a complete construction package with the necessary hygienic design requirements for a food processing facility.
  • Conduct equipment approval drawing reviews and provide markups to equipment vendors.
  • Update and create engineering specifications related to manufacturing equipment, valves, piping, and instrumentation.
  • Perform equipment Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) at equipment and fabricator locations.
  • Perform site visits as needed to evaluate modifications to existing infrastructure.
  • Work with the internal engineering and design team to develop and maintain standardization for the software tools used.

Basic Qualifications (Minimum):
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree program from an accredited institution in Engineering related field preferred

Experience (Years/Type):

  • 3+ year’s experience with sanitary process equipment (e.g. pharma, diary, food, cpg) and modularized fabrication or construction support
  • Advanced knowledge (5+ years) in using design software and programs at a Level of Detail (LOD) 400 (e.g., AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant3D, Navisworks®) required
  • Basic knowledge in using design software and programs (e.g., Inventor, AutoCAD MEP, REVIT®, Vault, BIM 360) preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of sanitary engineering practices (e.g., CGPM = current good manufacturing practice), 3-A = dairy standard, etc.) required
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering process unit operations including dry material and liquid processing, modular design and instrumentation, and bulk material storage and handling required
  • Extensive attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple activities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, listening)
  • Ability to be flexible and transition quickly between various assignments
  • Experience building relationships and collaborating with diverse stakeholders effectively
  • Energetic, initiative-taker and resourceful problem solver
  • Able to collaborate across large organization.
