Title: Electrical Engineering Technician / DEATS Technician
Location:  South District Service Center, OK
Duration: 12 months

Summary:

  • Performs a wide range of analytical tasks related to the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical power distribution facilities.  
  • Projects include the design of distribution facilities (serving residential, commercial, and small industrial customers), relocation of existing distribution facilities, and distribution system improvements such as minor expansions, conversions, and rebuilds.

  • Performs assignments with standardized processes
  • Works under direct supervision
  • Resolves questions and problems within established standards and guidelines
  • Follows established procedures to accomplish the requirements of the job

Essential Functions:

  • Create work orders, job sketches, material lists, and cost estimates, and update the GIS system for new jobs, property damage, and correction of errors to facilities utilizing field information and data furnished by others.
  • Apply Engineering Guides, Construction Standards, National Electric Safety Code, NBIC, and ASME.
  • Provide support for emergency restoration efforts.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding information needed for projects.

Education/Work Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, Math, Physics, or other related technical degree
  • Completion of 60 hours of equivalent college coursework toward a technical degree.
  • 3 years DEATS Technician level work.
  • Completion of 6 hours of Algebra/Trigonometry/Calculus and 6 hours of Electrical/Electronics/Physics college coursework.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.

  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization.
  • Ability to embrace Safety as a value.
  • Knowledge of Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively and professionally with team members, leaders, and customers.
  • Organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Computer skills with the ability to use application software (e.g., ArcFM Designer, SAP, and MS Office Suite).
  • Ability and desire to develop and add capabilities and skills.
  • Ability to understand electrical drawings and site plans (e.g., commercial & industrial customers, highway drawings).

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Office environment requiring extensive computer work
  • Required to work overtime
  • Required to be available for callouts and to respond to storm damage during non-standard hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Occasional travel required including overnight
